Many residents of all religions ride the bus, which is the main mode of public transportation in Jerusalem, run by a company called Egged. It is amazing to watch the buses navigate the small streets. Buses are identified by a number displayed in the front window, with their destination written in Hebrew. Most buses depart from Jerusalem's Central Bus Station near the city entrance, which is a 15-minute walk from the city center. Buses operate Sunday to Thursday, on Fridays until about an hour before Shabbat, and on Saturday nights one hour after Shabbat ends. A new development at some bus stations is electronic boards with expected times of bus arrival.
