Discussion at the Dung Gate - February 2018
The Dung Gate, Mughrabi Gate, or Silwan Gate was built in the 16th century. The gate is the main access to the Western Wall plaza and is situated near the southeast corner of the Old City. Dung Gate is a passage for vehicles coming out of the Old City and for buses headed to the Western Wall. The original 16th-century gate was much smaller, and the Jordanians enlarged it in 1952. It was renovated, after Israel regained control of the region in 1967, by architect Shlomo Aronson.
